Under the vision of Boris, the house reformulated their approach on Mid Century Design. For 5 months we settled down in one of Antwerp's most beautiful corners. With a weekly changing store, we had the privilege to reconnected with old and new Belgian clients. We moved out last month, but no worries, more to come, and we're happy to share one our favourite scenes.
The Camaleonda design became famous almost immediately after it was featured in the exhibition 'Italy and the new domestic landscape' held in the MoMA museum in 1972. Goldwood’s connection with the design is very personal and goes further than the surface. Goldwood started in 2008 and since then we have become experts in selling the precious Camaleonda sofa. Mario Bellini, quickly become our more featured designer.
The influence of painting is never far away in Athos' work, however, his sense of freedom is greater with a camera than with a paint brush. Even before the picture has been taken, he builds the image accurately and consciously with attention to framing, lighting and the composition of his installations. That is, after all, where he succeeds in creating his typical, surreal yet tangible atmosphere. The new world which he has thus created, challenges the viewer's imagination, often with a touch of humour. More than once his work has been exhibited in a duo or group exhibition, currently it can be admired in a solo exhibition at the MAS in Antwerp.
